Tramadol causes numerous undocumented side effects. Two weeks after my wife took it for a back injury, she came down with chronic pancreatitis. A web search found two independent reports of people who took tramadol and flexeril for back pain, two weeks later came down with pancreatitis. Reports of clinical trials submitted to the FDA show at least one case of fatal pancreatitis along with myriad other side effects, none of which rose to the threshold 1%, so they are not listed side effects.

Doctors and hospitals love tramadol because they see patients as drug seeking and they falsely believe tramadol is the only non-narcotic pain reliever in their arsenal. In fact, tramadol is synthetic codeine. It is an opiate. In fact, their arsenal of non-narcotic pain relievers includes Imitrex, Maxalt, Axert, Relpax, Elavil, Pamelor, Trazadone, Desery, Zanaflex, Skelaxin, Baclofen, Soma, Guanethidine, Catapres, Tegretol, Depakote, Dilantin, Zonegran, Procardia, Mexitil, Lyrica, Neurontin, and Celebrex.

I took my wife the the ER for another back injury today, requesting any non-narcotic pain reliever other than tramadol. They said no other was available. Take tramadol or do without. I'm not making this up. They are a mainstream hospital and that's what they said. They explained it by saying "you know what's happening with drugs today." No, I don't. I know they're not doing their job because of a misguided notion they are drug cops rather than healers. I also know I'm not going to pay the bill.

There is no treatment or cure for pancreatitis. It causes acute abdominal pain and you lose the ability to digest fat. If you eat more than five grams of fat, you get vomiting and diarrhea. You are stuck with it for the rest of your life.

This is another of those Wilsonian holdover bad things we do. Before Woodrow Wilson, we recognized the de facto government, that is the government that had control of the country. This was the realistic diplomacy that we had under cool-thinking officials.

Then we had Woodrow Wilson and the moralistic approach and we never escaped that. George W. Bush seemed to be channeling Woody. Obama has been more circumspect but will do nothing before the election.

We should have relations with every country in the world whether we love it or not. That goes for left, right and in the middle governments or dictators.

Another reason we keep up this ridiculous embargo is because of the JFK embarrassment over the Bay of Pigs fiasco that he perpetrated. He had to try to get even, hence the embargo. We would have dropped this dumb idea long ago except we are being "true" to the "sacred memory" of Kennedy.  Laughable.

Yes, very dangerous. Increased Mohammadian terrorism combined with a burgeoning narcotics trade and weak governance are just some of the problems here. It is being thrown in chaos and a state of civil war, as ethnic and religious factionalism tears the country apart.

That's a major problem, especially considering that Nigeria is Africa's most populous state and the largest oil producer on the continent. It is a top producer of light, sweet crude--which is easily refined and cheaper to extract. Obviously this makes Nigeria of extreme interest to international energy conglomerates in the West and Asia. They are a top 5 supplier of oil to the United States. As I discussed briefly in another comment about the US's new geopolitical posture, the government of Goodluck Johnathan, a functionary of Western banking interests, decided to abruptly lift fuel subsidies at the start of the new year. This sent fuel prices skyrocketing and the country grinded to a halt. Originally Johnathan had promised to remove the subsidy slowly, but instead he decided to go for the shock therapy approach.

In spite of Nigeria's great oil riches, it still remains one of Africa's poorest nations. Some of these resources remain untapped, especially in the Gulf of Guinea, which is another area where the US wants to project more naval power, along with the South China Sea. Most of the oil there is controlled by Western conglomerates, and China's state owned oil companies are also looking to get in on the action. They've already built a few refineries in the country.

The Nigerians have more than enough hard dollar export revenues from their petroleum trade to develop their infrastructure, but the government has allowed their refining capacity to go into decline intentionally. This means that, despite the fact that they sit on top of some of best oil reserves in the world, they actually have to import their fuel, which is controlled by a corrupt state monopoly. Billions are lost yearly to corrupt political forces who use the subsidy as their personal piggy bank to the tune of billions at the expense of everyone else. The government subsidized energy prices so that the population wouldn't feel the impacts of their poor planning and corruption. The government lifted the subsidies as an ill considered move to free up revenues to supposedly redevelop their oil sector and infrastructure, with IMF structural adjustment policies leading the way. Basically they're imposing a huge energy tax on the impoverished population of Nigeria, along with other oil-rich countries in West Africa like Guinea. Everyone knows that removing the subsidy will do nothing to remove corruption in high places from the country, in fact, they'll likely make double or triple profits now, as increased prices means more money going into their coffers. That in short, will only empower and entrench these forces further.

Elements of the Nigerian government have also been exploring options with the Chinese, who want to invest a couple billions worth of dollars of new refining capacity, so the government does not have to spend hard currency on importing fuel and subsidizing prices. This could free up billions that could be used on social spending, new infrastructure, and prerogatives. That is the correct approach to this problem, not structural adjustment, which will only serve to further destabilize this country. But that approach does not fit into the West's plans for Nigeria, who are concerned that they are looking to invest a portion of its central bank holdings in China's currency, as other countries like India, Iran, Russia and a few others have already done or are in the process of doing. That's a direct challenge to the dollar's role as the world's reserve currency, which is what supports the projection of American power abroad and our domestic economy and consumption at home.

Higher energy costs means higher transport costs for food and other necessary commodities, thus increasing hunger in a nation where the vast majority of people are deeply impoverished. Instability will also be a problem, as this will embolden radical movements within the country, while forcing more to take to the streets in protest. When it really comes down to it, this is about keeping China out of Nigeria, which has traditionally been the domain of the Western oil giants. show less

The results in South Carolina were instructional in terms of public opinion about this race; in fact, it will likely set up the various narratives that will define this political contest. Gingrich will certainly not be the nominee, but he's clearly spoiling for a fight that the party establishment does not want, for fear that it will weaken their general election prospects. In fact, that has likely already happened, so we might be looking at a situation where the GOP goes into the fight with a damaged candidate. The exit polling, while not 100 percent fail-proof, nevertheless establishes certain things:

    http://www.cnn.com/election/2012/primaries/epolls/sc

It's not politically correct to write about, but Romney's Mormonism clearly does matter in the South, where Evangelicals see that faith as heretical. The exit polling shows that Romney lost nearly 80 percent of votes cast by this group. Even more remarkable is the fact that they cast their ballots in favor of a thrice-married Catholic candidate. Remember, in the deep South, Catholic candidates like John Kennedy and Al Smith were not exactly embraced. Romney won the non-evangelical vote by 5 points. But he was resoundingly rejected by six out of ten voters who thought that having a candidate whose religious views mattered.

Candidates cast their votes for Gingrich partially on the mistaken belief that his political style would "take it" to Obama in the general election. And yes, Gingrich did show fight in the SC debate, although the momentum has clearly slowed for him somewhat. His unfavorables are at 26.5%, which isn't exactly suggestive that he could win a national election.

    http://polltracker.talkingpointsmemo.com/contest/us-favorability-gingrich

The most interesting aspect of the exit polling shows that Gingrich's attacks on Romney's business record as an asset stripper at Bain Capital stuck. Ever since 2007, I've stated that this was Romney's ultimate blind spot as a candidate, that along with the religion. 50 percent of voters who went with Gingrich thought it was an important issue, with 28 percent of the overall electorate viewing Romney's business background negatively. Gingrich took a lot of heat from the party, but the reality is, that line of attack is effective, and it will certainly be used by the Democrats in the fall. The only segment that Romney did well with were those earning more than $200,000 in income, which he won by 5 points also. That seems to be the common thread in all the primary contests thus far.

Another issue: social policy. Romney does not make for a convincing hardliner, even though he has taken some very strong pro-life stands in this contest. People don't buy it, they realize that he did switched stances once he began gearing up to run for President in the middle part of the last decade. Social conservatism doesn't sell in Massachusetts, but it is an absolute requirement to win a national GOP primary. Romney won convincingly among the third of the GOP electorate that thinks abortion should be legal. He only won TWO PERCENT support among the segment of voters who said their top criteria was backing a candidate who was defined as a "true conservative."

In short, this has become a two man race, with both candidates having significant negatives to their merit. show less

Hi guys! My name is Onyou H., and I'm a homosexual faggot from Colonial Beach, Virginia!

I'm currently living outside of Washington DC with my fat, smelly, loser of a wife, Hannah. Honestly, I can't believe she married a loser like me. I guess I should consider myself lucky.

I've got a couple of NEW SOCK ACCOUNTS TO TROLL THE CHICAGO PAGE! One is STATELAW, then there's my latest one, OSITO57! Hope no one catches on to me!

And I REALLY HOPE no one GOOGLES "Yelp 5 Guys Rogers Park", clicks it, and scrolls down to the bottom of the page, stumbling upon the second to last review on the page, from ME, Onyou H!

Boy I hope they don't put two and two together, seeing that I'm Korean (thus all my references to Kim Jong-Il in my previous troll accounts), that my "wife" Hannah Y's favorite movie is Ghostbusters (my very first trolling sock account username), the contempt for all things Chicago in my Yelp reviews, and the exact same snarkiness that I've displayed on RATEITALL!

And I REALLY hope they don't go to PAGE 9 of my Yelp page, and see that I've reviewed a Dunkin Donuts and Giordano's pizza in MORTON GROVE, ILLINOIS, the same town that I CLAIM TO BE LIVING IN ON MY OSITO57 SOCK ACCOUNT!

    OOPS!!!

Can't let 'em CATCH ME! Can't let 'em EXPOSE ME! I'm SMARTER THAN THE WHOLE LOT OF YOU! I'M SPECIAL! And I won't let stupid Chicago MAKE A MONKEY OUT OF ME ANYMORE!!!

So STAY AWAY FROM MY YELP ACCOUNT! OR ELSE! I MEAN IT!!!

I like to make sock accounts and troll on the Chicago page, mainly because I'm a fag, but also because I feel a deep-seated contempt for that city. You see, the women of Chicago TOTALLY rejected me when I lived there. They totally emasculated me, walked all over me, treated me like dirt...LOWER THAN DIRT, and utterly crushed my self esteem, trampled it into the mud, to the point where I just gave up on women, and became the man-loving FAG that I am today. I married this fat Korean pig Hannah in a sham marriage so my parents don't figure me out. I fail at everything.

I've even FAILED at lowering Chicago's Rateitall status with negative reviews from all my sock accounts! It's STILL rated number 2 SECOND ONLY TO SAN FRANCISCO! Damn! I've tried SO HARD WITH MY SOCK ACCOUNTS like Drover, ZXCVD, QAZXS, my 2 NEW ACCOUNTS FDQSH, and CDERT, and even my very FIRST SOCK ACCOUNT, GHOSTBUSTERS, which is my "wife's" favorite movie.

I try to keep up on what's going on in Chicago from Google, but's hard, being all the way over here in Alexandria, Va. Even though the "flash mob" incident is over 2 months old, I'll still try to use whatever I can. Man it's messed up when I post personal information about myself on the internet, there's NO TELLING what may happen when DILIGENT PEOPLE stumble upon it!

Well, I'm off to the gay bar now. Maybe I can find a sexy Korean ladyboy to take my mind off how the girls of Chicago squashed my self-esteem like a bug! If you're a hot studly man, shoot me an email! Bye now.
