Fairly expensive, but very authentic and quite tasty. Many seafood dishes to choose from, including some very nice vegetarian options. Top items to try if you get a chance to stop by are the Sushi, the Hot Sake, and the Udon. Not the most fresh, but prepared well. My only real complaint (and the main reason for the three-star review) is the cleanliness, or more specifically, the lack thereof. Not cool, but kinda par for course.

As this place was touted as number one on the list for the best Sushi Restaurants in Sacramento on this web site, I put it as the number one place to try. Business took me to the area, so I went in for a sushi lunch. The dining room was about one-third filled at 12:45 p.m. with no patron sitting at the sushi bar. I asked the greeter to sit at the bar; he suggested a table. I said seat me where you want me. I wound up in an alcove in the north east corner at a small table for two next to a couple at the only other table in this small, crowded nook. I was embarrassed as the acoustics let me hear every word of their conversation. The bus boy delivered water and asked if I wanted something else to drink. I asked for a small Kirin. The waiter appeared and asked me if a wanted something else to drink. I again asked for a small Kirin. He said draft or bottle. I said bottle. He asked me again. I answered again. The beer was served. I pondered the experience thus far and wondered if it could g... Read more

We went to this restaurant with high expectations after reading the reviews and were sorely disappointed. The good (if you can call it that): Chicken Teriyakii was generally good. Tempura was fair. Sushi was ok, not the best but also not the worst we have had. The not so good: The service was terrible. They never even offered to refill our water glasses. We ordered hot tea and never offered us more after the first glass. My husband asked for NO MAYO on his sushi and brought out sushi filled with mayo. In their defense they did replace his order with what he had originally asked for. We asked for extra plates twice for our children and never got them. We had to flag down someone to bring us the plates we had asked for. I ordered coconut ice cream for dessert and my husband ordered Mochi. The same waitress who took the order brought out the Mochi and put it down in front of me and we had to ask again for the coconut ice cream. Most Japanese restaurants I have been too have had a ... The best Japanese restaurant in Sacramento. The food is top notch, always using the freshest and highest quality ingredients. For example they use red miso, a far more expensive and mellow version of the traditional soup. The Jessie's roll appetizer is exquisite. The tempura consists of a wonderful blend of shrimp and asparagus, shiitaki mushroom, and numerous other vegetables not usually found in typical tempura. Our favorite is the sesame chicken, lightly batter dipped and severed with a light but flavorful sauce. Nothing is EVER greasy at Miyagi! From the bar try the great JJ's birthday (raspberry) or the lemon drop. On the weekends the place is packed, with families, singles and couples. After searching for years for the best Japanese restaurant, we found it. They are a bit pricey, but after all, you get what you pay for.

I love this place and often go there for dinner with my parents. The rolls are creative and always made with fresh ingredients. I also love their dinner entrees (especially the Sesame Chicken) and their seaweed salad. Last time I was there I tried the seared Ahi tuna on a bed of seaweed. It was delicious! The service is great and everyone is really nice. It is definitely a local oriented place. The servers and staff always remember if you have been there before.

The up side: quiet, has creative and tasty rolls. A pretty comfortable place if you're looking for a sushi restaurant with a bar setting because it's more quiet and less crowded compared to places like Mikuni. The down side: all things on the menu (appetizers, entree, and sushi) are about $2 - $3 more compared to the average price range. I would recommend going there for their rolls (ranges $13-16 per order). I personally won't go there for the entrees because I can get the same quality with a cheaper price at other restaurants

Miyagi's is one of the best Japanese restaurants I've ever visited! The sushi is AMAZING - the chefs have mastered the fine art of texture and balanced flavors. The Osaka Maki was the BEST! The beef teriyaki was tender, succulent. Decor is hip minimalist. Even on a Friday night, there was no wait for a table. The place is quiet and spacious - perfect for an intimate meal. The service does tend to be a bit slow - though not as bad as some places in town.

We were lost while trying to find a different sushi restaurant. A helpful pizza joint employee pointed us toward Miyagi. What a find! We tried the "seafood salad", sashimi over spring greens with citrus vinaigrette. It was truly delicious, very fresh with lively flavors. Next was the Toni No roll, which has no rice. It was heaven on earth! Despite the long drive, we'll be back again and again.

Sushi was very good and pieces were large and filling Creative rolls and tasted very fresh Ascetically pleasing place as well, decor was very nice and trendy Service left some to be desired though. Had to ask 3 times for more tea.
