We started going to Tokyo Fros for Thurs night trivia. I have now been for Karaoke on Tuesdays which was a blast. The hostess for the music was so outgoing and made sure everyone was having a good time. I have not been there for Happy Hour, but i am told that tokyo fros is the best happy hour in sacramento. My sis in law and i definetly agree that tokyo fros is the freshest sushi in town. I have been to other sushi bars that have sushi that feels just wrong in my mouth. Mikuni downtown and Sushi hook both had us spitting food into napkins, really! there is a killer place in Sunnyvale. Fros is on the same page with them Tokyo Fros has always pleased my palate. i love the PASSION roll and the Miracle on rice try their Rice krispy dessert, we always get one to go! now the manager recognizes us and bought us dessert! no one does that!

Tokyo Fros Happy Hour is the best deal I have found other than Subway sandwhiches foot long sandwich for $5.00. I can't afford to go there during normal hours unless I have their $8.00 roll of the day special. Monday is the Bad Ass Roll and Tuesday I forgot but it is very good. Wed is their Coach T Roll which the manager had me try and made me go back every almost every Wednsday after class since. They also have soy wrap for a buck extra per roll. Not many places have soy wrap. The first time I went there the waitress dropped a tray of drinks. It was impressive how fast the managers and all the other waitress jumped in to clean it . That says something abnout how well they are trained. I think the service here is quite good.

Love his place. We live in Stockton and stop here as often as we can when in Sacramento. I think Tokyo Fros is the best sushi in Sacramento. Definetly the freshest I have had. Was also here on Thursday night as well as the recent reviewer....."WORST SERVICE EVER". However we did not have same experience as he did in his review . In fact we had to wait for a table because they were full, so I think this guy did not gets the waitress's phone number and wrote this...lol All I have to say is I wish there was a Tokyo Fros in Stockton.

I rate my sushi on freshness. I don't care if it is a traditional place (Fros is not) or a trendy place. Fros is definelty not traditional style but more of a regular hang out.... I'm sitting at the sushi bar and like every third table that walked in, the chefs knew the names of these people! Thats what made me go back. My first experience was not any thing to brag about, it was medi-owker at best, but they had UNI and it was fresh. I have been back several times and now they call me by whats up "dude"...maybe they will know my name soon?

If you are looking for sushi that is not authentic and do not care for the service, then you might enjoy this place. This place sucks!!!!! went there on a thursday night and it was not even busy. Had to wait 20 minutes for our waitress and had to wait an additional 10 minutes for our water. Not only that, I ordered a glass of beer and when I got my beer it was warm. I also saw a cockroach by the window panel where I was sitting. I paid for my drink and left. That place is dirty, nasty and I would not recommend this place to anyone.

wow. fun place no doubt. Been there for lunch, and it is quite different than thurs night (was loud with DJ, but we were there after 9pm) I agree with the reviews as far as trendy applies. Waitress are very attractive, but seem to know their stuff But food is really fresh. The owners are always there which is a plus for me. My friends dad who owns restaurants always told us to eat where you see the owner there often, so thumbs up there. I have read some negative reviews and have not shared same experiences as they did I like this place

so since my first review i've bee back twice and there hasent been any problems with the food so far i've tried the geek girls gone wild, the spicy salmon, the tarantula and the fro so def all of them were really good we've also been trying the apps and the crab wantons are amazing it seems to me that all of the bad reviews must not like sushi because mine was good. not the best but most definitely not the worst . good vibe for the 20 somethings and college kids. this was my first time visiting we just had the CA Rolls but they we're good.the tempura was a little under cooked but nothing to really complain about we'll be back

A long time sushi fan, I tried Tokyo Fro's for the convenience of how close it was to my house. That was the reason it got 2 stars instead of one. The rolls are bland, and too much mimic the California-Japanese fuson style that Mikuni's creates when making it's rolls. Either get more creative or stick to traditional. I tried traditional, and found they couldn't even get that right. If they provided a larger fresh fish menu, and actually cut their nigiri to size (not monster pieces on mounds of rice) I might give them a 3. The service was slow, and so were the chefs. For such a small area, I thought, "where are all the guests that are slowing these chefs down?".

The Mac Daddy roll is the best by far, I was there last night. There was a Mixer going on with a Hookah Bar in the back. Everyone is so friendly, fun and lively! Was very relaxed last night, easy going crowd with business professionals, some still in suits. I'm going back next Monday, I cant wait! There is a Fashion Thurs Event going on I may go to that one as well. Great place for the new girl in town. I wasn't harassed at all by any men either. So double bonus!

After reading the reviews on this site, we tried Tokyo Fros. It was my girlfriends birthday party. This place plays good music, and once the place filled up, you can tell this place is more of a singles hang-out / and meat market. We were a large group, and had to wait for a bigger table. lots of plasma tvs and all sorts of different people. Once the manager found out it was my girlfriends birthday, he turned off the music and announced to everyone it was her birthday. He poured her a sake bomb, the whole restaurant cheered, and then they asked the crowd should we make her drink another? She did, and it was awesome. And the G-spot roll is so good! love the names of the rolls too! Definetly a party place. We went back for lunch the next month and it was a mellow place packed with business suits, totally contrast to the thursday night we celebrated on. love this place!

Wow, went to Tokyo Fros for the first time last month. I've been living in Roseville and have not been able to try restaurants in Sacramento. This place is everything I heard it was. It was not as loud as some of these reviews. The food was outstanding. I heard the food was ok, but the vibe is why people go here. The food was fantastic! The BBQ Albacore (they call it the #!) Way Better than Mikunis! Why I'll go back? (three times this month!) Service was phenomenal. When you go to these asian restaurants I feel like the waitress's just take orders, a Fros they made good suggestions. The last time we were there the waitress just pulled up a chair and sat with us describing the whole menu. (my husband keeps talking about that waitress...lol) Will you please open in a Fros in Roseville???

Been living in Sacramento for 10 months now, before that we lived in Hawaii, needless to say we know what good sea food is, especially sushi Tokyo Fros is the best sushi we HAVE EVER had! I cannot believe some of the negative reviews My Husband and I now eat here several times a month. Is it loud sometimes, but its energy and crowd make it even more interesting. I have not been there at lunch, so I can't tell you anything about that. The waitresss are probably the most beautiful girls my husband says he has ever seen in a restaurant. I have to agree, but the sushi is awesome! Last time we were there it looked like one of the managers was giving out free sake shots to the customers waiting for tables. We will definetly bring our friends here!

After driving by the place so many times, I decided to finally give it a try. The ambience of the restaurant is that of a sports bar--with its loud rock music and ESPN on flatscreens hung up around the restaurants--rather than a traditional Japanese restaurant. No problem there, but it set the tone for my lunch. They offered lunch specials at $8.95, which would not be too bad of a deal considering they came with salad, rice, and I think miso soup, but the lack of selection beyond teriyaki and one sushi combo left me scouring the menu for something better. Being not too hungry, I decided to go with some nigiri for appetizer and udon to fill me up. The nigiri came on a minimalist but carefully arranged platter. They looked decently fresh, but I could have sworn a few of them had a hint of perfume as an aftertaste. I couldn't tell if it was from the soysauce, the hands of the sushi chef, or maybe the plate itself, but wasn't sure enough about it to bring it to the waitress's atten... Read more

I am also really suprised to see all of the negative reviews. I love this place! The rolls are really creative and delicious and in all of the hundreds of times that I have been here, I have never once had a bad experience. Make sure you get the Green Tea Creme Brulee for dessert. It is a little known treasure.

wow....i am surprised to see the reviews of Tokyo fros. i have eaten there pretty frequently for the past two years. the menu has had some change...the prices have gone up...but i have always found their sushi to be good. The rolls are NOT 4 inches wide. sorry. if you order anything on the specialty menu...it is a very good sized portion. if you want to talk about bad value...try mikuni...their prices are a joke. every roll i have ever had there was good. they are also good at making creations based on what you like. i would recommend sitting at the bar. there you are face to face with the chefs who will be attentive to you. the music is usually good...last thursday was new and late 90's rock and r&b. i have also had more than one experience of something being offered to us by the sushi chef...that we didnt order. they are always making rolls and then giving them out to the people at the bar. i would recommend people who are true sushi lovers to try this place....for the food. i have n... I am a sushi connosseur at heart - I still believe that the best sushi in Northern California can be found in the bay area - notably San Francisco. That said, I was in the area and decided to try out Tokyo Fros for lunch with my business associates. Tokyo Fros is tucked away from the rest of the plaza. Upon entering Tokyo Fros, it seemed to carry a very modern, artsy appearance that is reminiscent of an art gallery. However, the experience was not worth reminiscing. While waiting patiently for a table, we find that the restaurant had a distinctive smell. We were served by one sole waiter, who happened to be working the bar at the same time. We ordered the standard fare - sushi of course - the house specialties. Upon receiving the sushi, we noticed that the sushi is commonplace - e.g. sushi you would find at Bel-Air/Safeway. The sushi was wrapped with way too much rice than the good stuff (maguro, unagi, soft shell crab, etc) In addition, the fish was not fresh, it was a bit warm. The s... Read more

I love sushi, BUT THIS PLACE WAS BAD! It was nothing more but a glorified bar. The hostess noticed us walk in but didn't seem to care much. I noticed a puky smell around the bar. The first waitress showed up once and never came back. The music was so loud i could NOT even hear the chef as much as he couldn't hear me. The food was bad, I even noticed the chef using an old rag and raw fish at the same time. I could not even finish eating. When i asked for a check, the third waitress didn't give me all my change back, assuming that I didn't want my .91 cents. And on top of that i went home and had raw fish food piosoning.. NO ONE DESERVES SUCH BAD SERVICE, yet alone a bad a bad environment and food that will make you gag. BEST PLACE TO GO FOR SUSHI, ALTHOUGH VERY BUSY, IS MIKUNI'S! GO THERE, IT'S LIKE EATING ANGEL FOOD.

They need to learn to make sushi. First of all the rolls are like 4" wide, secondly they are not fresh. The service is horrible. They hire a bunch of big tittied waitresses in an attempt to distract you from their horrible prices, service, and quality of food. Do not eat here. Personally, I reccomend Mana on broadway.

Sushi here is so great! I come here for lunch & on Thursdays when they have a DJ spinning. The service is great & our server was very helpful, Sake bombs are always recommended. I did try the oysters & they were horrible! They came over warm & didn't taste fresh. The menu is quite interesting............... I was told as of 2 weeks ago that the fish is no longer fresh due to costs is this true?

When you walk into Tokyo Fro's you realize why they call it a rockin sushi bar. For the most part it seems that Tokyo Fro's aims towards a younger demographic. They have Karaoke every Tuesday, pre-club parties on Thursday and from time to time the even have live music. The food at Tokyo Fro's is tasty. And the best part about it is the size of the portions. The rolls at Fro's are the biggest I've ever seen. The prices are reasonable, however if you go during happy hour (Mon-Fri 4-6pm) or on half off sundays (5-10pm) then you will find yourself a real deal. The service was in my opinion, was good. The waitresses were real friendly and went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. If you are looking for a good dinner for a good price and a good time, Fro's is the place.

I love sushi, and this is definitely the best sushi restraurant in Sac I've been to so far. The waitresses (I haven't had a male waiter so far) are nice but maybe a little understaffed. The food is very good though, it tastes very fresh. Watch your bill though, we were charged the weekend price for a weekday special, when we pointed it out the waitress seemed a little annoyed but corrected it. I think this had to do with the understaffing issue though...
