Too limited for potential sellers. I had an abundance of Nikes I bought at varous swap meets and flea market events. Ebay tells me after my tenth listing that I am not able to list more than that due to being a new seller. It was very irritating for me because I want to make money. Too many restrictions for sellers.

UPDATE: I've used eBay a fair amount the last couple years, and I'm no longer worried about unknown, random sellers. The real problem is PayPal. You never know when it's going to reject a completely valid card for no apparent reason. It's terribly buggy, especially for international transactions. I bought something from France once and never did get PayPal to work properly. Had to wire the money directly to the vendor's bank account. If eBay ever developed their own reliable credit card payment system and sent PayPal packing, it would vastly improve the eBay experience. (2008): I understand the appeal, but I'm not so big on trusting random sellers.

Ebay could be a hell of an experience for you, as well as the hell itself. All that you need to do to not fall in the latest category - research and use common sense. I love to buy jewelry and books on Ebay. I bought jewelry from China on 2 different occasions, although I told myself some time ago that I will never deal with companies outside US. Well, I happen to have a great outcome in both instances, and I know exactly why. When buying on Ebay first, look at the ratings the seller has, reviews, especially the negative ones, check on responses to negative reviews from the seller (you would be surprised at what you can find out by reading their answers), return policies, shipping time and price etc. Always pay thru PayPal (open an account if you don't have one, it only takes a minute), and add an extra level of security to your payments, and a few more years to your life). All overall, when shopping online from such a big marketplace like Ebay, common sense and attention to deta... Read more

Well, I think this is the first time since 1999 that i am writing a rating here for Ebay. Currently they have charged me over $200 in listing fees on FREE LISTINGS Days. I have listed these same items on their fee listings for months...and now this glitch. Called, they could not find a reason why i have charged. First, they claim there was not free listing on June 19, 2012, then asked me to prove it. I did, and they said because of my catergory, i asked them to check again. confirmed that was not the case. Then they said will credit me but went off for 15 or mins and said give them 2 days for their billing analysis to check and will email me then. If i like, i can call back...this is beyond ridiculous. My monthly bill the month before this was only $18. I might have to go to small claim court just for them to remove this...truly a sad site for once a great place .

Great site for selling stuff, but sometimes I end up paying more in fees than the profit I make, as not everything sells. ((

I live in an area where garage sales are not feasible. I love using eBay to get rid of my "treasures." I have been an eBay user for almost 9 years and am very happy with them. The only thing I don't like is that you can not give negative (or even neutral) feedback for a bad buyer. I have run across people who were absolutely horrid to deal with, but had no way to pass that information on to other users. Overall, eBay is the best online auction for me.

Ebay is unfortunately now, just another corporate monster who doesn't care about the little guy. We have been buying and selling on Ebay for many years and have seen that the company started out as an amazingly neat way to buy and sell stuff, now their policies are cold, hard and heartless like most of Corporate America. Just Sad.

Most things are good, bu tPoor quality jewelry, not as nice as the pictures. The shipping is fast but the packaging is cheesy. I have ordered from them in the past with mixed results. The best items are the multi-colored gemstone pieces. Most of the stones seem bleached of color though.

the rating should not be terrible it should be down right dispicable. If you are a seller do not use ebay they charge fee for every thing and now even the shipping charge as well! the charge will hit the buyers as well soon because the sellers will have to increase there price and more are going to "buy it" now prices. example: the going price for silver b/w $38-$41 an ounce i just sold 10 oz for 390.00 with in the range so i thought. ebay charge my shipping and my sale $35 and paypal theres another winner charged $11 something. at the end my $39 an ounce profit turned into $34 dollars well below market value lost close to $50 total. both the seller and i lose because he paid 39 and the porfit for me was a loss! I highly recommend not using ebay anymore. i have been with them for almost three years and this is my last transaction with ebay and paypal!!!!

Both eBay users who wish to expand their sells beyond eBay and those vendors who already have an online business may benefit from transferring to ProStores for their eCommerce needs. ProStores offers many great features for website design and marketing. However, as with any eCommerce company, there are both advantages and disadvantages when it comes to using ProStores. When setting up an online business, often times one might first shop for a hosting company, then a design program, and next a shopping cart software. However, ProStores simplifies things by offering all of these items in one package. They host your domain name, offer a design program or the option for their design team to work for you, and they provide a shopping cart program that is integrated with most major merchant accounts and the ability to manage your stores inventory and sales. In addition, ProStores has tools that will help you to promote your business and increase profit. They help you to optimize your store f... Read more

I don't like ebay, but Doba is one of the very few companies that provides the service of dropshipping with an array of suppliers to sell on eBay. Their directory consists of products from a large variety of niches and then integrates them into a single dropshipping buying portal. There is no need to contact and negotiate with a supplier. No reseller license is required. If you choose to use the datafeeds, they are all incorporated into the Doba datafeed. If you choose order products from multiple vendors, it can still be done with a single order. Doba simplifies the entire dropshipping and product sourcing process into a single user interface. Doba provides extensive training on using their system as well as effectively sourcing and selling products on the internet (both for eCommerce stores and auction websites, like eBay). You are able to trial Doba for free for 7-days by clicking on this link

Ebay has become the bottom feeder of all online auction services. Customer service is rude, and really have no ability to even help the simplest of problems. They are extremely anti-seller, and have come up with an extremely unfair rating system called dsr's. Ebay allows buyers to leave 1 and 2's out of 5 stars and does not let the seller respond to the ratings and ask the buyer what the problem was. They actually forbid it! They have also implemented a new policy that does not allow the seller to mention feedback in any way, shape, or form in their descriptions.....this also has been forbidden. On the 19th of April ebay will also implement a new final value fee (commission) that will also charge you for any shipping charges incurred. So if I sell you an item for $10.00 and it costs you the seller $10.00 to ship, the buyer will pay $20.00 total to the seller, then ebay charges their seller FFV fees based on ALL $20.00. They want to become another amazon. If you are interested in pho... Read more

Ebay treats sellers like dirt - high fees are going to get higher now that Ebay will help itself to a hefty % of the sale price PLUS shipping. Sellers don't benefit from shipping costs so why must they pay a commission on them? Postal fees are through the roof as are all other costs associated with selling. Why should Ebay shareholder profits go up while seller profits fall year after year? Soon the only items that will be offered on Ebay is junk from China that you can get at Walmart - small sellers that offer quality unique items will soon be edged out completely.

horrible place to sell. I sell on Ebay and off Ebay. On Ebay the buyer can bid and never pay. Your product cannot be relisted until you win the unpaid item dispute. Scammer's abound!.. Better send tracking with everything. I have a buyer now that won an item for .99 and refused to pay until i had to wait 4 dyas for Ebay to allow me to send a dispute for an unpaid item, i win they pay then immediately turn around and left negative feedback, I contact Ebay and they removed the feedback but did nothing to discourge this low life behaviour. As of today i have 11 people that have not paid after 3 days and 11 unpaid item disputes sent. Then people complain about the time it takes for them to recieve their item? Ha....The sellers have left in droves..the variety of items has shrunk. I only keep the account for the few item's i sell now. Other than that it sucks for sellers.

Everyone beware!!!!!! If you sell on ebay there is a new scam to watch for. The item will sell and be paid for just fine, the buyer will leave positive feedback and then in a couple weeks, before their 30 days are up, there will be a problem. Now they want a partial refund up to 50% of the cost. If you don't give it to them the item will not be returned and you will issue a refund! sure you wonder WTF!!! Well the buyer just sends you back an empty box and the tracking number shows it was received so ebay gives them their money back and you are screwed!!!! It has now been going on one month and I still don't have my money or the gold ring back. I filled out all the case info, abuse info and all the other case related crap and was told I would hear back in 48 to 72 hours, that was 11 days ago. So take ebay for what it is... A SCAM!!!!!!!!!

I used to love Ebay, but I hate Ebay now. I would not even consider buying something in there even sellers on ebay offer better deals than other site. Ebay is nice to people as long as people are just buying stuff, but once you try to make money on Ebay by selling stuff, Ebay does not treat you nice any more.

As an avid eBayer (turquiose star and rising), I can't say enough good things about eBay. Once you get set up with a Pay Pal account, shopping and selling is made easy. eBay sends out reminders, charges reasonable fees, has buyer and seller protection, discount offers, good customer support, and navigating the site is easy. I've found many things on eBay that I thought I'd never see available again and I've sold many things I thought I'd never get rid of.

They have among the worst customer and technical support service I've ever encountered, but I'm not sure they're scam artists. Some of the customers, buyers and sellers alike, certainly are though, particularly in electronics. How much of that is EBay's fault, through callous neglect at the very least, is open to question.

Of all auction sites, ebay was the one I had the most problems with. Buyers and sellers trying to scam me all the time. With the fees they charge to sellers, I have found much better and it's the last place I look when I need to purchase something. I wish ebay sellers would bring their items elsewhere. EveryplaceIsell is a good place to let people know where they are selling so buyers can find them.

I can not stand this site.  It overcharges for selling, will not let sellers leave correct feedback, I just wish all sellers would unite and go to another site.  If there are no sellers there, the buyers will follow.  Why don't people just pick another site not one or two because that would not work, all ebay sellers need to leave and go to another site togather.

I've been a fairly happy seller on ebay for over 6 years. I am currently outraged over a few of their newest changes. As a seller, I can no longer leave HONEST feedback unless the transaction is flawless. If the bidder doesn't pay, I need to warn other sellers and that is no longer possible. Their newest scam is to no longer allow sellers to accept anything other than Paypal (WHICH EBAY OWNS). So if checks and money orders are no longer accepted I will have to figure out some other way to sell most things that I currently use ebay for. They get more and more out of us with each change while saying it will make for a better BUYING environment. GREAT!!!!!!!!! HOW ABOUT THE SELLERS????? THAT'S WHERE YOU MAKE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
