Received the Stainless Kitchen scale as a gift. Was pretty happy with it until the top came loose. I also contacted the company 3 times without a response. Don't purchase a Salter product.

We have had the chrome version of this scale for several years. We use it frequently and it still works well. It is attractive and doesn't take up much space. And it is easy to clean. The "zero" feature is easy to use. Three minor complaints: The scale defaults to grams, so we always have to switch to ounces before we weigh anything. The buttons are not very sensitive, and it sometimes requires multiple tries before they respond. And as has been said about some of the other scales, if you put a bowl on the scale, it is difficult to read the display. My sister-in-law asked for a food scale for Christmas. She likes ours, but we decided to get her the OXO instead; it appears that scale, while not as attractive, is designed to overcome the minor problems we've experienced with our Salter. Just wish that the OXO had a more appealing look to it.

I rarely write poor reviews. Sadly, I must warn people away from Salter. I have this scale, and loved it -- until one day it displayed "Err". Changed the batteries, tried every likely form of "reset"; no luck. "Err". I then contacted the company to find out what could be done, or what the stated "Lifetime Warranty" would do for me... No response. I contacted them again. No response. After a third time, I gave up and bought another scale. Be wary. If you ever have a problem, the warranty is worthless. There's nobody home at Salter.

I checked with a friend who is a nutritionist when I decided to buy a kitchen scale to help us to control meal portion sizes. She advised getting something that was simple to use without a lot of bells and whistles. I also did a lot of online research before deciding this was the model best suited for us.

I like the scale, so for I have had no problems, it meets my needs.

Love it, only improvement I can think of is to have it 'turn-on' in the ounce mode.
