Lance might need to rethink his position now, two years later. To attribute failures in Iraq to a list of magazine articles would now be considered laughable. Even from his position in 2005, he could have seen that other reviewers here had complained that Newsweek magazine is actually too conservative. Newsweek is just fine for what it does: report the talk of the week. That isn't easy when turnaround time is so short, and when much of its focus is avowedly on short-term trends in thinking. That trendiness explains how stories can go wrong, and on a less serious note accounts for why it includes a clever section on "Conventional Wisdom." It doesn't pretend to convey eternal truths, just what people are thinking and saying at a particular moment in history. And there's some value in that.

I always find it amusing how liberals regurgitate hyperbolic half-truths that foment from their thinly veiled anti-war sentiments. It begs the question though as to why they weren't so vehemently anti-war when we were bombing the hell out of the Serbs. Magellan is obviously more worried about the protection of the Koran than winning the War On Terror: we don't want to upset those terrorists you know, they might do something crazy like crash jumbo jets into our skyscrapers. But more importantly he engages in cut and paste jobs that takes the data out of context- normally from Andrew Sullivan's daily dish- but today a consortium of unsubstantiated MoveOn.org style claims. 20 prisoners have been tortured to death? Actually no they haven't. 37 have died while in US custody according to that radical right wing LA Times. That is 37 out of almost 50,000 detainees we have captured. Of those 37 at least 8 have were justifiably killed for attacking those holding them in custody. Anothe... Read more

If Newsweek made errors in their reporting, they should be held accountable. What's interesting to me is that the uproar over the Newsweek reporting scandal has been far greater than the uproar over the torture that the GWB administration has enabled around the world. I am shocked that the White House has chosen to go after Newsweek so aggressively when so far we know that: 1) more than 20 prisoners have been tortured to death in US custody. 2) That Muslim prisoners have been forced to drink alcohol, have had fake menstrual blood smeared on their faces, and have had Allah thrown at them in interrogations. I mean, would anyone really be shocked if the Qu'ran had been flushed down the toilet during interrogation? Seems tame compared to the other abuses that we already know about. It's also interesting that nobody has denied the allegations... just the source. By going after Newsweek, The White House has chosen to keep this issue in the headlines. Every journalist, blogger, and th... Read more

Newsweek is a great news magazine. It hardly focuses on too much of one topic, always varying its articles and columns. In a newspaper, you will find many sections: World and national news, editorial, business, technology, consumer, and even entertainment. And of course, you'll find all of this in Newsweek. There is something for everyone in this magazine. Some people say it is liberal, and maybe it is, but I haven't seen anything to indicate that, and no one has pointed anything out to me.

Still way too biased for me. Why do they call it news when they insert their opinions into it? Just the facts ma'm, we'll make up our own minds on what to think. Please don't put Michael Jackson, Britney or some other fad on the cover. Leave that to People, etc.

TRASH! Any magazine that purports to be a "News" magazine while at he same time putting the latest pop culture icon or hare brained idea on the cover as "news" is on the same level as the nightly "news" broadcasts on the major American TV networks. Thank goodness for "The Economist", a literate magazine for those that still care about what is going on in the world around them. (This comment also applies to "Time". They should be called "TimeWeek".)

Newsweek is an awesome magazine. I love the political cartoons and the in depth articles that cover a vast array of topics. I have used many articles to enhance my research in papers and enhance my knowledge in my personal life. The pictures are also well photographed.

Newsweek is great. It comes out once a week on Tuesday, giving you all the important facts and news without exaggeration like other magazines. It has something for all ages, genders, and races. From the deal on migraine headaches to what racism has become in todays society.

Newsweek is a good magazine because it keeps people up to date on current issues. I think it's extremely important for people to be aware of things going on in the world around them. Newsweek also adds entertainment to their magazine through jokes and comics.

Newsweek keeps me up to date on current events, with a taste of Entertainment news, and some humor as well. I enjoy checking out cyberscope for the latest computer information and "My Turn" always offers an interesting opinion. Overall, an excellent collection and balance of world news.

Newsweek is an excellent source of current events as well as cultural change. The language used is clear as well as accurate, and the editors are very knowledgeable. It provides a broad base of different topics, so that you learn about science and technological break-throughs, as well as about the latest movies and books.

This magazine is very informative and publishes the latest and most important news. It also includes information that you wouldn't hear anywhere else. I love the cartoons and the subscription price offers a great discount from the regular price.

Newsweek used to be a serious publication, but has depreciated a lot in recent years. The current issue has no business or economic news, little about international affairs, and a cover story about a Nazi Atomic bomb, more worthy of a National Enquirer front page. Its only redeeming feature is the presence of an occasional good piece of campaign coverage.

The news coverage is adequate. However, this magazine sometimes becomes a bit of a tabloid. The stories are sometimes too one-sided, so it's hard to get a feel for the price of news.

Topics are well chosen and the articles are well written. The inclusion of editorial cartoons and comments is a nice edge over otherwise comprable news publications. A somewhat liberal bend, but not an overwhelming partisan.

Newsweek is good journalism. It is informative, to the point, and in depth. My only problem is it tends to ignore third world issues if they do not directly involve the U.S.

This is one of my sources for current events. While it can't compete with the New York Times in being current since it's a weekly magazine, it is however sufficient in delivering news. My favorite part of the magazine is the newsbytes and tech articles. The length of the articles are also reasonable compared to other magazines.

I can always count on my Newsweek to arrive on Tuesday, the magazine rarely has typos, and the news is useful. I like quoting something from Newseek because I think it makes me sound intelligent.

Newsweek does an excellent job of balancing informative, in-depth news with entertaining, "USA Today"-style content. If I'm out of the current events loop for a while, reading a Newsweek gets me right back up to speed. I'd like to see them expand the "Cyberscope" section and increase their coverage of technology issues.
