On the surface a dull, painful show. One level down, it's a harsh critique of middle America. One more level down it's black comedy gold. I'm pretty sure if you look into it any further, a demon owns your soul. If you don't like this show, you don't get this show. Or you have your own show, and it didn't do as well.

Its more situational comedy (which I liked) then laugh out loud comedy. I will watch this if nothing else is on.

KotH's satire is nowhere close to The Simpson's.

Good satire. Funny but realistic at the same time. Not as childish or over the top as family guy.

Very creative adult-level cartoon series. Hard to believe this is by Mike Judge. I don't watch it all the time but I always surpised at how good the story lines and the characters are.

King of the Hill is nice because it's nice to have a humorous tv show that isn't constantly crude like family guy as much as I love family guy. It's a lot more mellow but still a good dose of humor. Character voices are pretty much perfect. My favorite character is Dale Gribble.

This is a pretty good animated series. The voices are okay for the most part but a lot of the story lines are funny.

Original, funny, and I cant stop watching it. For those of you who are thinking what the heck is this show, people in TX cant really be like this....I thought the same, till 3 years ago when I moved to Houston, which is kinda near where the fictional town of Arlen is. Now that I have lived here for 3 years, I totally get the show.

What a great cast of characters. What other show features a clueless conspiracy theorist, and insecure super woman, a 13 year old aspiring prop comic, a Laotian yuppie, a neurotic army barber, and a man living off the proceeds of a lawsuit that involves slipping on a urine puddle in a Costco?

this show is kind of funny. I only usually watch it when theres nothing else on but its cool. Its funny at times but its kind of got this dull, blandness to it. I know thats sort of the point but it can be boring to me.

I like this show, but I can't figure out if this show is a comedy. Sometimes, it seems like a reality show based off real people, I like that. My favorite episode is when the town thinks that Hank is a pimp.

I grew up in a place so much like Arlen TX that King of the Hill seems like a documentary to me. Yes, many of the characters are annoying and stupid--that's the point! They are parodies (just barely.)

Hank is an old-fashioned Texan and American, who has high values for doing the right thing, even if he doesn't realize that turning everything Bobby enjoys into a competition is the wrong thing, but that's how he was raised, therefore you can't hold it against him. Bobby, Boomhauer, and Dale are comic relief and leave me in stitches, especially the part when they got the backhoe stuck in a big hole.

The most realistic show on television. Hank Hill isn't portrayed strictly as a Moron as some claim, often he is right on track. He believes in hard work, America, football, and beer. To understand the red state mentality, watch this show. Hank Hill is the epitome of the average american, well-meaning, but a bit ignorant. Peggy Hill is also hilarious. Bobby just ain't right. It's subtle humor and yes, it isn't always cynical, is that such a bad thing?

Having escaped from Texas after a 9 year sentence there, I can tell you this show is right on point. It is funny to me because of that. If you dont have any connection to Texas or the southwest, however, you will probably find the show a little slow.

The greatest advantage an animated show has is its opportunity to run absurd jokes that cannot be repeated in real life. Lets face it absurdity is funny. To paraphrase George Carlin, EVERY joke has at least exaggeration. Through animation, writers can achieve ultimate exaggerations that can only be drawn and never repeated by live actors. That's why animated comedy is the best on television. And that's why King of the Hill is a failure. When King of the Hill first aired on January 12, 1997, I had high expectations and I watched the first season and a good portion of the second season. I came to the conclusion that there is nothing about King of the Hill that is new, wild, original, or abstract. Sure, it tries to employ a down-to-earth family-fare brand of comedy to win over its audience. But so do all non-animated sitcoms and even they have better humor (some do anyway). There is nothing wrong with King of the Hill. It's just, I really, really wish its viewers would realize that th... Read more

2/3 to 3/4 of this show is hilarious. Especially one of the very first episodes whenever Hank and Bobby are outside drinking a Root Beer. Bobby says something to Hank that Hank really liked so Hank says Bobby, if you weren't my son, I'd hug you.

I'll admit this show did have some verrry slow-goin episodes in its first season, but after this it just kept getting better and better. And to the folks who don't understand the show its because it requires some form of intellect to be able to understand the subtle jokes and to appreciate the excellently written humour in the show.

Subtle character based brand of humor rather than the scattershot, joke a minute pop culture parody some people expect out of animated series. At heart a very warm show though still extremely funny. It does take a while to get into; you should watch at least three or four episodes before you make up your mind. Also a nice portrayal of blue collar Southerners; if you've ever lived in the South you know Hank and his friends. The proper heir of both The Andy Griffith Show and All in the Family.

For an animated show, this program does absoultely nothing to take advantage of its limitless medium. Any crazy, oversized animals? No. Starships? No. Aliens? No. It is just yet another typical family sitcom that is extremely boring and uncreative. Some episodes have absoultely no laughs in them at all! The voice cast, however, is pretty good.

yeah, I saw this show when it was called Rosanne, which sucked just as bad. Shows about simple-minded redneck/lower class families just aren't funny. The stylization of the characters sucks too...continuing the crappy animation from Bevis and Butthead. NEVER thought this show was ever funny but if I needed to fall asleep early on a sunday night, I'd turn it on. It never should have lasted past it's first season.

It's agreed to me that it absolutely sucks. Right now, it's my absoultely least favorite show because it's so ever not as funny as The Simpsons which is not AS funny as it was anymore. I just don't know why FOX would continue to air the trash. CANCEL IT ALREADY! It should have only lasted 6 months, not even!

King of the Hill rules. It may not be as wild as the Simpsons, but then it wasn't meant to be. KOTH has a subtle humor about it that should be appreciated. Great show. Afterall, you don't want to mess with Texas, I tell you what!

I agree with fogotten hero, and president-X-D. It's not exactly a racist show, but one episode went aganist my relegion (WitchCraft) Now I...just can't STAND this show anymore. Beavis and butthead were funnier.
